10.9 Audio Recording
20221005
To record audio from the microphone we can use the powerful graphical audacity or the simple command line application arecord.
For the command line arecord
simply provide a file name into which the recording will be
saved. Start speaking and then type Ctrl-C
to terminate the
recording.
To improve recordings from the computer’s microphone it is recommended
to provide the command line option -f S16_LE
, which specifies an
audio format known as Signed 16 bit Little Endian, which thus uses a
higher resolution of 16 bit sampling rather than the default 8 bit
sampling.
To transcribe the recording to text see transcribe.
