38.2 HA Community Store
20220818
First install the SSH & Web Terminal add-on for access to a ssh terminal as described in Section 38.11.
Start the ssh terminal and get HACS:
Restart Home Assistant under Developer Tools > YAML > RESTART.
Now activate HACS. Settings > Devices & Services > ADD INTEGRATION > HACS.
You will be asked to confirm a few things first: You know how to access the Home Assistant logs, that there are no add-ons in HACS, everything inside HACS is custom and untested by Home Assistant, and if something goes wrong disable all custom_components.
If you are okay with all that, then SUBMIT.
You now need to link to your github account using the authentication code provided. Follow the link supplied by Home Assistant and paste in the authorization code provided. Then click Authorize hacs.
Clear the browser cache (Ctrl-F5) to get the HACS icon displayed in the sidebar.
You can then explore integrations or add a custom repository (as we do in Section 38.6).
