10.13 Audio Volume

20241022

To increase the volume of an audio file, for example, 8dB:

ffmpeg -i orig.ogg -vcodec copy -af "volume=10dB" plus8db.ogg

To reduce the volume of an audio file:

ffmpeg -i orig.ogg -filter:a "volume=0.5" orig_quieter_05.ogg

Another way to adjust volume is to use normlaize-ogg. For example, to double the volume (noting that gain is a logarithmic function):

normalize-ogg -g 10 my.ogg
