33.19 Git Ignore Files

The usual .gitignore file is found within a git repository directory. A user wide ignore file is found in ~/.config/git/ignore.

To check why a file might be ignored:

git check-ignore -v lib/main.dart

If the file has already been committed then add --no-index:

git check-ignore -v --no-index lib/main.dart
