40.28 Kogan Agora E10-02 (Quaver)

Quaver is a netbook computer for portability and general computing requirements including presentations, email, web browsing, and music and video. It came with Ubuntu 8.04 and its own graphical interface pre-installed. The netbook features an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU with 2GB of DDR2 memory and an160GB hard drive. It includes an inbuilt SD card reader, 3 USB2 sockets, wireless, bluetooth (dongle), and a TouchPad.

Ubuntu Netbook Remix (9.10) was installed from USB (18 December 2009). The iso image was downloaded from Ubuntu. It was uploaded to a 2GB SanDisk Cruzer formatted as fat32. After some effort the machine’s BIOS was convinced to boot and Ubuntu was installed. Initially the touchpad did not work, but this was an easy fix, as below.

The system was purchased online 2009 for $4xx from Kogan. It is quite a good netbook and well featured when running Ubuntu. After about 6 months the screen died (October 2009) and Kogan shipped it back, placed the hard disk in a new netbook, and returned it. Their technical support, though slow, also helped to debug booting from the USB stick.

Working: Skype (audio), video, ethernet, hibernate, suspend, wifi (though not a strong receiver).

Not Tested: external monitor.

Not Working:
